[Class 42 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] In a machine for drawing, forming &c. sheet steeb &c. S, the feed rollers 10, 11 driven by an electric motor, are slowed and then stopped, after a predetermined measured length has been fed, by means of switches 87, 88, Fig. 2, operated by a cam 52 to which a torque is applied by an oil-operated motor G, Fig. 4, a shaft 33, and a friction clutch 56, but rotation only occurs as permitted by the rotation of a worm 74, Fig. 1, which is in engagement with a worm wheel 48, fixed to the shaft 33, and is driven by the sheet S through a roller 15 and shaft 70. The clutch 56 is held in driving position by oil pressure in a chamber 53, supplied through a bore in the shaft 33 and a pipe 34, but the switch 88, which stops the electric motor, also cuts off the oil pressure to the pipe 34 and to the motor G, so that a spring 61 returns the cam 52 to its original position. This is determined by a stop 90 on a graduated disc 18 mounted concentric with, and loose on an extension 17 of, the shaft, this disc being adjusted, in accordance with the length of strip required to be fed, by hand-driven worm 82 engaging the worm wheel 84. The cam 52. in returning, releases the switches 87, 88 and thus restarts the electric-motor and reapplies the oil pressure to the motor G and pipe 34. The motor G comprises two pinions 38, 39 in mesh like a gear pump. The ball bearing 36 has a vent to avoid rise of oil pressure therein.
