[Class 18] [Also in Group VIII] Apparatus for delivering adhesive coated paper strip in desired lengths comprises a receptacle 3, Fig. 2, for adhesive, at least two pairs of feed rollers 16, 18 and 6, 8 the lower roller of one pair of which dips into the adhesive, a guillotine 31 disposed between the pairs of rollers, a gear train between the lower roller of each pair adapted for rotation of said two rollers in the same direction at the same peripheral speed and a clutch interposed between said gear train and a continuously driven member. The clutch is operated from a hand lever 40, Fig. 1, which is biassed to return to its original position on removal of pressure and thereafter disengages the drive when the lower roller reaches a predetermined position. An extension 34, Fig. 1, of the shaft of one of the lower rollers, 16, has mounted thereon a loose, belt-driven pulley 35 and a fast sleeve 36 provided with a groove 37. A key 39 sliding axially in a keyway in sleeve 36 has a shoulder 38 projecting into the groove 37, and is spring urged towards the loose pulley 35 for engagement within a corresponding aperture therein. A pivoted lever 40 has a hook shaped and tapered extension 41 extending within the groove 37 and engages the shoulder 38 to prevent the key 39 engaging the aperture in pulley 35. The lever 40 may be manually depressed against the action of a spring to allow the key 39 to engage pulley 35. Upon releasing pressure from the lever 40 its hook shaped extension re-enters groove 37 and engages shoulder 38 to withdraw key 39 from pulley 35 and declutch the device. The upper roller 18 which may be resiliently mounted, can also be positively driven from the gear train. Rollers 8 and 18 are made of rubber and roller 6 of knurled metal. In normal operation lever 40 is only momentarily depressed and the device is declutched after one revolution of key 39. The length of strip delivered may be varied by varying the gear train.
