Abstract

583,102. Suction squeegees. DIXON & CO., Ltd., R. G., and BRIDGE, W. J. June 20, 1944, No. 11715. [Class 107] [Also in Group XXVIII] A suction squeegee for removing surface water from floors &c. comprises a mobile frame carrying a pump and a tank into which the water is discharged, and a duplex nozzle is provided, one part of which contacts the floor &c. in one direction of travel and the other in the reverse direction. The frame a carries a motor-driven pump b and a tank c arranged between the pump and the nozzle structure; a two-way valve d is provided whereby the pump may produce in the tank either a vacuum, or pressure for discharging the tank through preferably flexible outlet pipe e. The pipe line may have two adapters d<1>,d<2>, to receive a hose with a dustintercepting bay, or a hose to pick up water from places not readily accessible. The duplex nozzle structure f<1>, f<2> is connected to the suction pipe through a flexible joint, and is suspended from the frame by parallel links h which may be controlled by a spring i; stops limit movement of the links h. Between the nozzles is a flexible rubber &c. strip l which contacts the floor &c. and automatically closes the inoperative nozzle. A member such as a lever m may be provided whereby the nozzle structure may be raised from the floor &c. Specification 541,142 is referred to.
