Abstract
1,265,663. Cleaning windows, walls, ceilings, and floors. P. TANGUY, P. CARRE and J. LE BOULBOUECH. Feb.28, 1969 [Feb. 28, 1968; March 27, 1968; Sept.4, 1968], No.47215/68. Heading A4F. A device for cleaning flat surfaces such as those of windows, walls, ceilings, and floors, and adapted to be connected to a cleaning liquid supply and to a source of suction, and operable to clean and dry a flat surface when moved thereover, comprises a cup 25 arranged between a cleaning cup 30 and a hood 20 to define an annular suction opening 22, and an annular air discharge nozzle opening 24, the intermediate cup lip 1 projecting beyond the hood lip 2 and the cleaning cup lip 3, and the cleaning cup 30 having studs 11 projecting beyond the lip 1 for engaging the surface to be cleaned. A cleaning member, e.g. in the form of a rubber wiping blade 16, is resiliently mounted in the cleaning cup 30 and held away from the surface to be cleaned until it is advanced into contact with the surface to be cleaned by means responsive to the application of liquid to the device. Water is supplied through the handle 18, Fig.1 (not shown), of the device under the control of a manually operated valve and passes via channels 9, orifices 10a, (10b) in the cup 30, and orifices in the studs 11 to the surface to be cleaned, and also actuates a membrane 12 to move a resilient plate 15 carrying the wiping blade 16.so that the latter engages the surface to be cleaned. A suction generating unit is connected to the space 21 between the cups 25, 30, and exhaust air therefrom is supplied to the space 23 between the cup 25 and the hood 20. A modified device particularly for use in cleaning a floor is provided with supporting studs having rotary balls for engaging the floor surface.
