[Class 109] The spreader 3 of a machine for covering a wire or other core with yarn or the like is mounted upon a spindle 2 which extends through the hollow head-driving spindle 1, and its position is adjustable from below the rotary head so that the adjustment can be made while the head is rotating. The spindle 2 is connected to the spindle 1 by a key 5 and keyway 4 or equivalent means permitting relative axial movement between the spindles. The lower end of the spindle 2 is supported by a collar 6 and thrust-bearings 7 carried by a housing 8 adjustably mounted in a fixed part of the machine. The housing 8 comprises a screw-threaded sleeve provided with a knurled head 11, and a lock-nut 12 is provided for securing the housing, in its adjusted position.
