Abstract
582,734. Boxes. SYKES, J., and READS, Ltd. March 29, 1944, No. 5763. [Class 18] [Also in Group XXV] The lid of a sheet metal box is hinged to the body by cutting slits 3, 3, for some distance down from the edge of the rear wall of the body, so as partly to separate a comparatively wide part 4 in which is formed an inwardly open groove 5, bending the part 4 out of the plane of the rear wall, engaging thereover a slot 9 formed in the lid flange, and bending back the part 4 substantially into that plane. The groove 5 accommodates the part 8a of the lid beading a, and outwardly open grooves 10 accommodate that part of the beading which extends at each side beyond the part 4, towards its free end to facilitate entry into the slot 9. The corners 4b may be well rounded off. More than one separated part, with the corresponding lid slots, may be provided.
