Abstract

582,086. . Alternators. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and FRIEDLANDER, E. March 13, 1942, No. 3345. [Classes 35 and 38 (iv)] In an alternator excited from the main terminals through rectifiers, the number of rectifying elements in series in this circuit is reduced when the armature voltage is below a predetermined value. In the form shown, some of the rectifier units 4 are short-circuited by a relay 5 when its coil 6 is energized below a predetermined voltage. According to the Provisional Specification, the same result may be attained by adjusting the ratio of the transformer if such an arrangement is adopted for feeding the rectifier.
