Abstract

581,261. Lighting systems. HOLOPHANE, Ltd. (Holophane Co., Inc.). Aug. 15, 1944, No. 15553. [Class 75 (iv)] Parallel rectilinear lamps 12 are spaced below a ceiling or reflecting surface 10 of large area above light concentrating prismatic lens plates 13, the spaces between the lens plates being occupied by filler plates 14 receiving reflected light from the ceiling and light passing above the edges of the lens plates so that the whole of the upper surface of the room appears to be illuminated. The plates 14 may be provided with reflecting prisms preferably of 60‹ apex angle on their upper surfaces and diffusing flutes on their lower surfaces. The plates 13, 14 may be curved, and specular reflectors may be arranged above the lamps 12.
