Abstract

<PICT:0580621/III/1> Catalysts contaminated with carbonaceous deposits are regenerated in two stages, first in suspension in a portion of the regenerating gas, and secondly, after separation from the combustion products, in a fluidized state with a second portion of regenerating gas. As shown in the figure, catalyst is drawn off from the bottom of reactor 1, and carried in suspension in regenerating gas through a conduit 2 into a second stage regenerator 3 in which it is fluidized by gas admitted from pipe 15. Regenerated catalyst is withdrawn at 5, mixed in pipe 4 with reactants and returned to the reactor 1.
