580,562. Linear - dimension gauges. MOLLART ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., MOLLART, K. A. W., and HARRIS, S. E. Feb. 23, 1944, No. 3400. [Class 106 (ii)] A calliper-type gauges for testing the internal diameter of plain or screw-threaded annular bodies or rings comprises a work table arranged beneath the measuring points or anvils, the surface of the table being inclined to the horizontal and at right angles to the vertical plane containing the measuring points. The points 26, 28 for gauging the internal diameter of a screw ring 29 are carried by slides 13, 14 mounted in guides 11, 12 secured to a vertical plate 1. The slide 13 is positioned by a nut 18 and locked by a nut on a screwed rod 21 extending from the slide, whilst the slide 14 is urged away from the slide 13 by a spring 32 controlled by a knob 31 on the slide-rod, the end of which engages the rod 36 of a dial gauge 34 mounted on the plate. The ring 29 is rolled down an inclined table 8 until its inner surface contacts the' point 26, and the slide carrying the other point 28 is then pushed against the action of spring 32 until the point 28 engages the inner surface of the ring, an adjusting-screw 9 serving to position the table 8 correctly. In a modification, Fig. 5, a pivoted lever 56 is provided for moving the slide 14 against its spring, and both fine and coarse adjusting- screws 53, 54 are provided for elevating the table 8, which is guided by extensions 41, 42 running in guides 43, 44. The slide 13 is adjusted by a knob 18 turning two diametrically-opposite pins which engage the screw-thread of the slide-rod 17. For annular articles having a plain cylindrical bore, the single point 26 may be replaced by two small spaced balls.
