580,512. Railway coaches. METROPOLITAN-CAMMELL CARRIAGE & WAGON CO., Ltd., and BAKER, W. S. GRAFF-. Sept. 5, 1944, No. 16974. [Class 103 (ii)] A passenger rail coach is divided into three compartments 10, 11, 12 by partitions 13 meeting one side wall 14 but terminating short of the opposite wall 15 to leave a passage which may be closed by a hinged door 16, or a door which slides into the partition. In the central compartment seats 17 adjoin the partitions, and back-toback seats 18 terminate short of both side walls. A double sliding door 19 is provided in each side wall. The end compartments have the same door arrangements and seating lay-out, except that the end wall may have a seat extending along its whole length, unless a corridor door 31 is provided. The arrangement is intended to provide for rapid distribution and circulation of passengers under urban conditions, with accommodation of the compartment type for longer-distance . passengers.
