580,450. Controlling aircraft. GRAY, J. D. M. April 24, 1944, No. 7617. [Class 4] An aircraft is provided with landing wheel brakes, the operating means for each of which is connected to an air-brake flap such that operation of either wheel brake is accompanied by simultaneous operation of the corresponding brake flap. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, the brake pedals 8, 9, actuate hydraulic pistons 10, 11, which simultaneously operate the brakes on the landing wheels and pistons 16, 17 respectively connected to the brake flaps 1, 2. Instead of a hydraulic control system, mechanical or electrical means may be employed. The flaps may be operated when the aircraft is in the air or on the ground.
