Abstract

580,234. Hoisting material to concrete mixers &c. WINGET, Ltd., and DICKSON, G. June 23, 1944, No. 12012. [Classes 78 (iii) and 78 (v)] A machine for mixing concrete or other materials having a skip, which can be raised and inclined about its front end, or which is mounted on a runway which can be raised and inclined to discharge its contents is provided with hoisting gear formed by a chain 5, one end 6 of which is attached to the skip 8 whilst the other end is secured to the bottom of a grooved pulley 4 so that the chain is wound upon itself to increase the lifting speed as the skip or runway is tilted. Preferably two pulleys are used mounted on a shaft 1, each pulley being formed with flanges 4a, 4b spaced slightly more than the width of the chain. The unwinding movements of the pulleys are controlled by brake drums. When during hoisting the edge of the skip reaches the horizontal bar 9a it slides along this bar up to the stop 10, thus tilting the skip and discharging its contents into the mixing drum 3.
