Abstract

1327922 Concrete mixers REX CHAINBELT Inc 28 April 1971 [21 May 1970] 11850/71 Heading B1C A concrete holding mixer comprises an inclined rotatable mixing drum 14 with a spiral blade 26 and a charging hopper 25 for feeding a charging and discharging opening in the drum, and a conveyor 13 extending from a low position to a high position adjacent the hopper for receiving concrete and delivering it to the hopper. Power means are provided for rotating the drum and driving the conveyor to feed material through the opening while simultaneously discharging concrete in a manner permitting the drum to accommodate surges in the supply of concrete in excess of the desired rate of discharge from the drum. The conveyor 13 is a belt conveyor and its tail end 41 is retractable, and the drum 14 is driven by an engine 24, a hydraulic transmission 23, a speed reducer 22 and a chain and sprocket drive 20. A discharge chute 28 is pivoted about a vertical axis 40. The conveyor 13 can be detached to permit the mixer to be used for transit, and it may be replaced by a slot or screw conveyor.
