Abstract

1405607 Continuous cement mixers STABILATOR AB 7 Dec 1972 [10 Dec 1971] 56566/ 72 Heading B1C [Also in Division B8] A continuous discharge cement mixer comprises a mixing screw 10 supplied with ballast from container 6 by screw conveyor 8 which has smaller pitch and diameter than, and shares a conveyor drive shaft 11 with, the screw 10; cement is added from a container 7 by a screw conveyor 9 and the apparatus is so dimensioned that the mixing screw is only partly filled, whereby a rolling tumbling action is given to the mix. The flight of the mixing screw is imperforate and is inclined to the shaft (as is that of the screw 8) by an angle # which may be up to 3‹. The diameter D of the screw 10 is greater than that D 1 of the screw 8 preferably in the ratio 1.35:1 and their pitches S, S 1 are preferably in the ratio 2:1. The length of the screw 10 is preferably not less than six times the pitch S and it may have pegs or flanges to improve mixing. The shaft 11 on the conveyor 9 may be driven by separate power sources (16, 18, Figs 3 and 7, not shown); they may be interconnected by gearing. There may be a variable speed control (17) for the conveyor 9. The mixing trough may have a replaceable rubber lining (21, Fig 6, not shown) in the region of the mixing screw; the containers 6, 7 may have a plastics internal coating and be equipped with mechanical or pneumatic vibrators. The apparatus, as shown, feeds a concrete sprayer 4 supplying a nozzle (5, Fig 1, not shown) where water is added, and the conveying capacity of the screw 10 is preferably equal to the capacity of the sprayer. The apparatus may be mounted in a vehicle 1, and in use the mixing trough may be inclined so that the outlet is below or above the horizontal within a range of -10‹ to +30‹.
