Abstract

580,226. Shot blast apparatus. ST. GEORGE'S ENGINEERS, Ltd., and WILSON, F. W. June 21, 1944, No. 11826. [Class 60] A shot-blasting machine comprises a re volving perforated tut which can be adjustec so that its open top car be inclined at any angle the tub being carried ir a suitable casing on the top of which is arranged the shot-throwing de vice. The casing A has doors a in one of its sides, and the lower part opens into an in verted conical chamber A <1> to which is connectec a dust extraction con duit B. The articles to be shot - blasted are placed in a perforated tub, shown in its normal working position and supported by a bridle D and trunnions d<2>, the tub being given rotary axial motion by the pinion c', coaxial with one of the trunnions and mounted on a motordriven shaft, the pinion engaging with a bevelwheel c. A lever F is secured to the other trunnion d<2> which enables the bridle D to be swung about the trunnions. The shot-throwing wheel G is mounted on top of the casing A and driven by a motor G<1>; the expended shot, falling to the bottom of the chamber A<1>, is returned by an elevator H and the pipe h to the wheel. Alternatively, the shot may be supplied by compressed air nozzles. The tub may be fitted with a separate circular table for fragile work.
