Abstract

469,451. Sand blast. JACKMAN & CO., Ltd., J. W., and NEVILLE, F. W. Jan. 23, 1936, No. 2115. [Class 60] [Also in Group V] Apparatus for propelling abrasive material, for example, sand, &c. or shot, &c., for cleaning metal plates, castings, &c., or for coating or penetrating the surfaces of bricks, tiles, &c. comprises a shaft 1 rotated in bearings 2, 3 by belt or other gearing and having at one end a flange 5 to which is bolted a conical plate 6, within which is bolted a conical annulus 7, so as to leave a space 8 terminating in a peripheral outlet 9 turned from the conical space 8 so as to lie in a plane at right-angles to the axis of the shaft 1. Abrasive is fed by an adjustable pipe 10 to the inside of the plate 6. Instead of being conical, the plates 6, 7 may be part spherical or parabolic, and when conical, may be of straight or curved formation. One plate only may be used, and vanes or guides may be provided between the plates, or on the inner face of the single plate. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 237,607, 284,049, 287,105, [all in Class 69 (iii)], and 351,098, [Group I].
