300,417. Carborundum Co., Ltd., (Carborundum Co.). Dec. 21, 1927. Wheels and other tools. - An abrasive wheel or block, in which the abrasive member or members is held in a holder or chuck, has the grinding-member somewhat thinner than the final thickness, a coating of sulphur or other cement being applied to the member in a mould of the same size as the holder, so that the member is located accurately in the holder. In the case of a segmental grinding-wheel having a chuck comprising a base 2 and outer and inner flanges 4, 5, the segments 7 are held against the outer flange by screws 14 and plates 13. The segments have thereon a coating 11 of cement so that the segments fit accurately against tho flange, and coatings 10 and 12 also may be applied to the inner face and one end of the segments. The segments may be adjusted outwardly as the operative faces 9 wear, by means of pressure applied through openings 15.
