Abstract
579,922. Cams. PEDERSEN, H. V. F. March 4, 1942, No. 2859. Convention date, March 18, 1941. [Class 80 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXVII and XXVIII] Consists in an adjustable cam particularly adapted for controlling fuel pumps or valves in reversible internal-combustion engines, the cams being employed for both directions of running. It comprises two cam parts 1, 2 provided at their ends with interengaging parts 3, 4 of tongue and groove type. The outer surfaces' of these parts are concentric with the cam shaft so that relative adjustment of the parts does not affect the smooth transition from one cam surface 5 or 6 to the other. The complete cam is mounted on a boss 7 keyed to the shaft, the two parts 1 and 2 being clamped by screws 10 engaging holes 8 in the boss and passing through elongated holes 9 in the two parts, each of which has a lateral coned extension 11 engaging a corresponding recess 12 in the boss. The holes 9 are covered by segments 13 over which are placed locking plates 14.
