579,757. Knife-edge bearings. ERNST, D. Jan. 26, 1945, No. 2146. Convention date, Jan. 15, 1944. [Class 12 (i)] A knife-edge bearing device comprises two knife edges axially and angularly displaced relatively to each other and bearing on separate supporting faces. The arrangement locates the axis of turning. As shown, a rocking lever 5 has an axle each end of which is formed with a knife-edge 1 and with a support face 3 which respectively co-operate with a support face 4 and knife-edge 2 provided by a fixed standard 7. A spring 9 attached to a ring 10 encircling the shaft holds the knife edges against their respective support faces. The support faces may be curved, Fig. 4 (not shown). Plane support faces may be a continuation of one face of the knife edges, Fig. 1 (not shown). Specification 531,264 is referred to.
