Abstract
578,931. Supporting bombs &c. on aircraft. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and COLLIVER, H. E. S. June 2, 1944, No. 10673. [Class 9 (ii)] Bomb &c. supports on aircraft &c., comprise straps or a suspension hook and T-shaped crutches carried by cylindrical heads g sliding in two circular cross-section channels a, the length of the crutches being adjusted by the twin telescopic screw adjustable parts n, m of the shank. The part m is bevelled at its junction with the head g to allow the crutch to be turned angularly about the axis of its head. The crutch may be held in a number of positions along the rail by a spring plunger frictionally engaging the channel or co-operating with sockets in the channel and operated by a hook l. The crutch plate p is rotatably mounted on the shank by means of bifurcated tongues q engaging a groove r. In a modification the part n of the shank slides in the part m and is adjustable by a nut held in a recess in the part m.
