Abstract
577,959. Neckties. SPENCE, W. L. Oct. 20, 1943, No. 17230. [Class 141] A reversible double-ended necktie is made from a single piece of material folded longitudinally or from two superposed pieces placed wearing face to face. In the former case, a rectangular shaped piece shorter than tie length may be folded inside out and cut along lines A, C, B, Fig. 2. The ends of the waste part are cut square and inserted as a neck-band portion between the symmetrically shaped parts formed by cutting the main part by a transverse cut at C into two parts. The edges O, A, C, C, B, Fig. 5, are then joined by stitching and trimmed, and the tie turned inside out to give a tie of full length with one edge straight. If desired, tapering on both edges may be provided. Alternatively, instead of folding a single short piece of material, two short pieces of material may be superposed face to face and a neck band part inserted as before. In a further modification, the necktie may be formed from full tie length material with one or both edges tapering and with an integral neck, band.
