Abstract
577,508. Two-part couplings ; lamp-holders. HAMMOND, J., and TARRANT, F. F. May 20, 1944, No. 9791. [Class 38 (i)] A device for locking a lamp in a bayonetslot lamp-holder 2 comprises a band 3 sprung on to the holder 2 and provided with inverted L-shape detents 4, which engage portions of the slots 1 and are bevelled so as to yield outwards with the band 3 when the lamp pins 5 are inserted into the slots 1 and snap back to retain the pins as the latter pass the inner ends of the detents 4. A hood 7 covering the band prevents surreptitious removal by fitting so closely that both the top cap 10 and the hood 7 must be screwed back before a tool can engage holes or lugs in the band 3. The detents 4 may be welded, brazed or riveted to the band 3 or to a ring 3b, Fig. 7 ; or they may be pressed integrally out of the band, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown). A projection on the band 3 engaging a hole or recess in the holder may be provided to prevent rotation of the band when the lamp is inserted.
