Abstract
576,690. Stereoscopic microscopes. ENOCK, J. K. Nov. 6, 1942, No. 15695. [Class 97 (i)] In simple or compound microscopes of the kind having two reflecting prisms or surfaces behind the objective to divide the beam therefrom and produce a stereoscopic effect, the reflecting surfaces are arranged at equal distances behind the objective to direct the beams in divergent directions, the beams being subsequently deflected so that they cross one another and finally directed in parallel, divergent or convergent paths so that rays from the right-hand part of the objective will be received by the left eye of the observer and vice versa. As shown, prisms A<1>, B divide the rays from the objective C into beams a, b which are subsequently reflected by prisms A<2>, B<2> to cross, and are reflected into the eyepieces or on to a projection screen or photographic plate by prisms A<3>, B<3>. Another modification is described in which the emergent beams are parallel, and in' a further modification, the prisms A<1>, B<1> are each replaced by a single prism in which the light is twice reflected and the emergent beams are convergent until they cross and are divergent thereafter. The eyepieces arid prisms may be mounted on suitable slides to permit interocular adjustment.
