Abstract

575,955. Lifting trucks. TRIGGS, W. W. (Yale & Towne Manufacturing Co.). June 29, 1944, No. 12391. Addition to 575,926. [Class 78 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXII] The lifting truck of the parent Specification comprising rear lifting wheels 62 normally maintained spaced from the ground is modified in that the intermediate wheels 54 are mounted on the lifting platform instead of on the truck. The lifting platform 57 of U-shape is carried by a vertical member 26 having rollers riding in channel uprights 16 and is operated by a hydraulic ram controlled by pedals 75, 80. Rollers 50 on the member 26 co-operate with cams 20 pivoted at each side of the truck to lower the rear wheels 62 of the platform as the platform is raised, through connecting rods 23 and links 60. The intermediate wheels 54 are mounted directly on the member 26 which is pressed downwardly by springs 45 threaded on bolts 44 and acting between a channel bar 17 fixed to the uprights 16 and brackets 40 fixed. to the member 26. Nuts 48 on the bolts 44 determine the lowermost position of the lifting platform. When the ram is operated to elevate the platforms 57 the wheels 54 are immediately raised against the action of the spring 45 ; the cam 20 is therefore shaped to give rapid lowering of the rear wheels 62 to the ground to prevent undue tilting of the truck. A stop 60a on the link 60 limits the upward movement of the rear wheels 62. Specification 563,748, [Group XXXI], also is referred to.
