Abstract

554,503. Lifting trucks. LISTER & CO., Ltd., R. A., and ASHWORTH, P. B. Dec. 4, 1941, No. 15665. [Classes 78 (iii) and 78 (iv)] In a truck having a load-supporting member 36, 38 movable in vertical guides, 18, 20 on the truck for raising and lowering the load, this member has V-shaped abutment members 44, 46 the sloping sides of which are engaged by oppositely-acting thrust members 66, 68 to raise the load-supporting member without causing lateral stresses on the vertical guides. In the construction shown the thrust members 66,68 are rollers carried by screw or hydraulic jacks 48, 50 pivoted at 56, 58 to the chassis, the rollers being also connected to the chassis by links 70, 72. The load-supporting member comprises angles 36, 38 secured to a frame consisting of three #-shaped members 30, 31, 32 connected together at their lower ends by the angles 36, 38 and at their upper ends by braces 34. The vertical legs 40, 42 of the member 31 are channel-shaped and run on rollers 22 - - 25 carried by the uprights 18, 20 of the truck chassis 12, 14 and 47, 49. The truck may be provided with driving and steering means 78 for a front road wheel 80. When the load member is in its lowest position the load (not shown) can be wheeled or slid on to the angles 36, 38 or on a plate carried by the angles.
