Adjusting height of body from ground; frame construction.-In a truck of which the platform can be raised and lowered by the action of cams pivoted on the truck frame and operated by a hand-lever, the cams 20 are arranged to act upon inclined pieces 22 on the underside of the platform through the medium of loose rollers 25. The truck frame comprises front and rear axles 2, 3 connected by longitudinal braces 5. The platform is formed of angle-iron members 11 and is provided at the front corners with bosses 12, which slide on vertical studs 13 secured to the front axle, and at the rear corners with studs 15 adapted to rest on stops 16 upon the rear axle when the platform is in the lowered position. Front and rear cams 20 are connected by links 30, and the two front cams are connected by links 33 to the forked arms of the operating-lever 32 working on pivot studs 35 upon the axle 2. In order that the force required to operate the lever 32 may be approximately constant throughout the operation, the lower ends of the lever are slotted to engage the studs 35, and cams 36 secured to the axle 2 engage rollers 37 upon the lever so that the distance between the fulcrum studs 35 and the ends of the link 33 is increased as the lever is swung downwards. The front wheels are mounted on steering-knuckles 6 provided with arms 7 connected by links 8 to the tongue 9.
