Abstract

575,925. Lifting trucks. TRIGGS, W. W. (Yale & Towne Manufacturing Co.). July 1, 1943, No. 10697. [Class 78 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXII] A lift truck having a lifting head 10 supported on wheels 10a and an elevating platform 39 supported at its rear portion by wheels 42a has the forward end of the platform mounted for vertical sliding movement on the lifting head and prevented from pivotal movement in both vertical and horizontal planes. The platform 39 is fixed to a vertical member 19 having cheeks 18 on which are mounted rollers 16 riding in channel section uprights 14 fixed to the frame 10 of the truck. A hydraulic ram 30 is mounted between brackets 25 on the member 19 and bearings 32 on the frame 10 and is operated by a treadle 30a for raising the platform. Rollers 51 on the member 19 co-operate with cams 53 pivoted to the channel uprights 14 at 54 as the platform is raised to rotate the links 42 carrying the rear wheels 42a through connecting rods 45 so that the rear portion of the elevating platform is simultaneously lifted. In the lowermost position of the platform 39 the lower rollers 16 rest upon a cross member 20 and a stop 41 on the link 42 abuts against the under side of the platform. The connecting rods 45 are adjustable in length by cross bars 65 connected by bolts 71 and pressed apart by springs 70 threaded on the bolts, or a turnbuckle adjustment may be used. In a modification, Fig. 9, the pivot 76 of the link 75 supporting the rear wheel is mounted in a block 77 slidable on the underside of the elevating platform and adjusted by a screw 82. Further rollers 88, 89, 90 and 91 may be provided to assist the truck entering between the floors of a pallet supporting the load. The truck is driven by a motor supplied by a battery 12 and has a front steering wheel 10a. Specification 575,926 is referred to.
