574,831. Protractors &c. FIELDING, D. T. E. May 16, 1944, No. 9390. [Class 97 (iii)] A drawing instrument for hatching or section - lining comprises a base strip A the longitudinal edges a<1>, a<2> of which are turned up to form a slide for a cursor B which is provided with a lug B<1> to which a straight edge or blade D is adjustably pivoted. The base strip A is provided with end recesses a<4> or apertures whereby it may be secured by pins in the desired position and one of its longitudinal edges a<2> has a rack a<3> with which engages a pinion b operable by a finger knob b<2>. The latter knob b<2> is provided with peripheral notches which are engaged by .a spring b<4> so that the cursor B is movable by accurate steps. The blade D is provided with a dial d<2> divided into degrees &c. so that it may be adjusted to any desired angle for hatching purposes.
