Abstract

564, 645. Mathematical drawing- appliances. LANSDOWN, R., and COLASSI, W. L. March 2, 1943, No. 3445. [Class 97 (iii)] A -drawing instrument for drawing circles comprises a member having a number of perforations accurately positioned with respect to each other or to a common perforation, the perforations being marked or inscribed to indicate the perforations to be used for a predetermined circle. As shown in Fig. 1, a disc a is provided with perforations arranged along radii c and with a central perforation b. Certain of the radii are provided with perforations spaced 5 mms. apart while the remaining radii have perforations “ inch apart. The disc may be graduated at the edge to show angles. In a modification, the perforations may be arranged along lines parallel to the edge of a scale or ruler. Fig. 5 shows a bridge h provided to facilitate drawing of the circles. A hollow centre tube or pin f is placed in the central perforation of the disc a and the bridge fitted thereto. A marking pencil point is placed in the desired perforation and the disc rotated to draw the circle. The bridge h is provided with a foot, which may be roughened, to hold it firmly on the drawing board &c.
