573,856. Purifying water. COOKSON, K. Dec. 16, 1943, Nos. 21159/43 and 4419/44. [Class 46] A process for the purification of potable water, in addition to normal steps of water purification, comprises subjecting the water to treatment with activated silica, for example silica gel, with activated alumina and with active carbon. The three activated materials may be mixed together or the water before or after treatment with activated silica may be treated with activated alumina and active carbon. According to the second Provisional Specification the water in addition to treatment with the activated materials is also treated with calcium orthophosphate or with a substance, as for example calcined bones, which contains such phosphate. Specification 247,241, [Class 46], is referred to.
