Abstract
Gloves or glove linings are made by securing together two pieces of textile material approximating the shape of the hand, applying the assembly to a former in the shape of an open hand, and subjecting the assembly to chemical treatment whereby shrinking or stretching of the textile material is effected. The assembly thus shaped may be coated with rubber or other material as by dipping or spraying; the rubber may be in the form of latex or other aqueous dispersion or of a solution. The chemical agent may be a strong solution of caustic soda, calcium thiocyanate, nitric acid or sulphuric acid. The textile material may be cotton or mixed yarns, e.g. cotton and viscose rayon, and may be previously treated with boiling water, dilute solutions of caustic soda, sodium carbonate, soaps or wetting agents. A wetting agent may be added to the caustic soda used in treating the assembly on the former. After treatment the glove or glove lining may be washed and dried on the former and then dyed.ALSO:Gloves or glove linings are made by securing together two pieces of textile material approximating the shape of the hand, applying the assembly to a former in the shape of an open hand, and subjecting the assembly to chemical treatment whereby shrinking or stretching of the textile material is effected.
