Abstract
Liquid heat reactive phenol aldehyde resins are hardened by incorporating therewith from 1 to 30 per cent of sulphamic acid, or its derivatives, e.g. cyclohexyl sulphamic acid, ammonium hydrogen imido-sulphonate, ferric sulphamate and allowing the mixture to harden at room or elevated temperatures. A solid powdered resin may be similarly hardened by admixture with sulphamic acid and then heating the mixture until the resin melts. The mixtures are particularly suitable as bonding agents for abrasives in the manufacture of grinding wheels and emery or sandpaper. From 2-15 per cent of a dihydric phenol, e.g. resorcinol, may be added to the mixture.
