When in the locked position, the pivots 5b are offset towards the bracket 1 from a plane through the pivots 4 and the engagement between the hasp 5 and the hook 6. The lower back portion of the U-shaped lever 3 is recessed to enable the fingers to be inserted to release the fastening.
