Abstract

572,127. Supplying liquid fuel. HOBSON (AIRCRAFT & MOTOR) COMPONENTS, Ltd., H. M., and SIMPSON, T. April 11, 1944, No. 6676. [Classes 7 (iii) and 7 (vi)] [Also in Group XXIX] Apparatus for delivering a controlled amount of liquid in a given time comprises a casing 10 having an inlet 14 for fuel under pressure, a restricted outlet 25, preferably adjustable, in a front chamber 12, and a valve 19 controlling the flow of fuel between them. The valve 19 seats on the end of a tubular member 17 integral with a spring-pressed piston 16 slidable in a rear chamber 13 of the casing and adapted, when the valve 19 is moved away from the tubular member 17, to follow up the valve at a speed determined by a controlled byepass 21, 22 to stop the flow of liquid. A non-return valve 23 permits a quick return of the piston. In a modification a diaphragm 27 replaces the piston 16, the fuel inlet opens into the chamber 13 in front of the diaphragm which carries a valve seating 28. The valve 19 may be connected to the throttle lever of an aircraft engine to supply additional fuel during acceleration.
