In a device for filling aircraft or other fuel tanks, which is mounted upon a vehicle, comprising a rigid delivery duct 1, Fig. 1, leading to a hose 3 via a Venturi 2, the pressure at the discharge end of the hose 3 is adjusted to a given value by means of a by-pass valve 12 or throttle valve, not shown, the pressure drop across the Venturi 2 adjusting a differential piston, bellows diaphragm 5, 6 or a combination thereof loaded by resilient means, e.g. a spring, not shown, and connected to the by-pass or throttle valve. A by-pass valve 3 or throttle across the Venturi enables the rate of flow to be adjusted to suit hoses of different sizes. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), the by-pass discharges back to the suction side of the filling pump or the tank connected thereto, not shown. A compensating piston is disposed on the rod between the by-pass valve and differential piston, which compensating piston is operated by the pressures on either side of the by-pass valve. The differential piston may be loaded by fluid pressure instead of a spring. In another modification, the differential piston 5, 6 (Fig. 4), controls a needle valve 30 and hence the fluid pressure supplied to a chamber 34 in which is a spring-loaded piston 35 attached to the by-pass valve 22, the chamber 34 is connected to a point down-stream of the valve 34 by an adjustable valve 37.
