Abstract

571,982. Furnace ashpits. BENNIS COMBUSTION, Ltd., and BENNIS, A. W. Sept. 29, 1943, No. 15961. [Class 51 (i)] [Also in Group XXX] Ashes &c. are removed from the ashpit of a selfcleaning furnace by a reciprocating plate. The ashes fall over the end of the grate G on to inclined plates H which direct them on to the reciprocating plate C, Fig. 3. This plate may be supported by a plate E which forms the bottom of a trough F. A reciprocating movement is imparted to the plate C by a driving shaft O through a crank L, link M and arms N, J on a shaft K. A hinged plate A allows the ashes to pass on the movement of the plate to the right, but prevents their return when the motion is reversed.
