[Class 80 (iv)] In heavy machinery driving aggregates which are supported on the driven shaft, the driving aggregate is connected with a parallel motion device which prevents oscillation of the aggregate around the shaft in the plane of the torque, but allows motion thereof parallel to itself downwards and upwards or to the sides or oscillation in the plane through the shaft or two or all of these in combination. The aggregate a mounted on the driven shaft b carries two shafts c, each coupled to an electric motor. The weight of the aggregate is taken by groups of springs d. The extreme ends of the aggregate are connected by links e to bell-crank levers h which are themselves coupled together by a link f. It will be seen that both ends of the aggregate must move in the same direction. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 2, a gear housing r is mounted on the driven shaft t, carries a motor s and has its ends connected by links to pistons of double-acting hydraulic cylinders v, the spaces above and below the pistons being inversely connected by pipe-lines in communication through pipes y and non-return valves z with a liquid container x. Springs u support the casing r. An equalizing valve k permits of bringing the casing r to an horizontal position.
