Abstract

Artificial threads produced by the wet-spinning process are collected free from kinks and curls, by loosely suspending the reciprocating funnel through which the threads pass into a centrifugal spinning box, by a support situated approximately in the same horizontal plane as the centre of gravity of the funnel. A ring or collar may be attached to the funnel or its effective length may be increased, in order to adjust its centre of gravity to any desired position. The spinning funnel 1, Fig. 1, having constrictions 3 is loosely supported on the metal ring 7 attached to reciprocating support 9. A heavy metal ring 10 is attached to the top of funnel 1 so that the centre of gravity of the funnel lies approximately in the same horizontal plane as the ring 7. The lower end of the funnel 1 terminates within centrifugal spinning box 4. In a modification, <PICT:0570618/IV/1> <PICT:0570618/IV/2> Fig. 2, the funnel 1 is provided with a metallic collar 11 having a lower hemispherical portion 12. The top of bush 8, which lies approximately in the horizontal plane containing the centre of gravity of funnel 1, is cut away to receive and loosely seat the hemispherical portion 12.
