Abstract
570,578. Steam separators. ALLEY, S. E. Jan. 3, 1944, No. 83. [Class 123 (iii)] The steam dome 11 of a boiler is fitted with a steam separator constituted by a tube having intake and output ends 12, 13 respectively and a middle portion which is of reduced diameter and is shaped to form one or more sharp bends 15, 16 having slots 17, 18 in the outer walls thereof to permit ejection of water. Preferably the tube is hexagonal in cross-section to provide longitudinal water-collecting channels 19, 20 on its inner face, and the slots 17, 18 may be fitted with deflectors 21. A series of water-ejection slots with or without deflectors 21, may be arranged along the outer wall of each bend.
