Abstract
570,116. Knitting-machines. KOPPEL, C. July 20, 1943, No. 11785. [Class 74 (ii)] The needle tricks of a knitting-machine each have an opening therein through which lint or other foreign matter can escape. The openings are traversed by the needles or jacks, and the edges of the openings form-scraping edges to scrape the lint off the needles or jacks. Machines employing needle sliders J and jacks J<1> may have openings 13, 16 arranged in the tricks beneath the sliders and jacks, as well as openings 20 arranged beneath the needles 12. The openings may be arranged parallel to the tricks and may be of greater width than the tricks, or alternatively. the opening may extend at right angles to the tricks. The openings may extend into the side walls of the needle tricks and are shaped as at 19 to scrape the side faces of the needles or jacks. As applied to a circular machine, slots 31 may be arranged at the bottom of the tricks 26 in the cylinder, and the slots 31 may have a sloping edge 32 leading to a receptacle 33 secured within the cylinder. Openings 30 are also provided in the tricks in the needle disc.
