Abstract

569,475. Fibrous material treated with oilreaction-products. BADER, E. April 8, 1943, No. 5628. [Classes 96 and 140] [Also in Group III] Wood pulp, ground leather waste, or paper, &c. is treated with reaction products of sulphur chloride on fatty oils, e.g. linseed, castor, perilla, tung, or soya bean oil, as a solution or aqueous dispersion, and dried, for forming paper, board, laminated board, or paper pulp mouldings, e.g. of high wet strength, and resistant to tearing, creasing, moisture, fungi, moulds, acids, or solvents, &c. The sulphurized oil may be modified with wax, casein, gelatine, dextrine, synthetic resin, or latex. reclaim or synthetic rubber, &c., and may be pigmented or dyed, or have added clay, silica. barytes, or satin white and may constitute a coating or impregnant for paper which may be further heated after drying, to cure the sulphurized oil. Curing agents may be zinc oxide, calcium hydroxide cr carbonate, or magnesium oxide. The sulphurized oil may be added at the beater to pulp of pH value 7.5 to 8. Specifications 364,466 and 454,549 are referred to ; Specification 570,262 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
