Abstract
569,139. Weighing- apparatus. AVELING-BARFORD, Ltd., and WILCOCK, C. M. June 2, 1943, No. 8840. [Class 143] [Also in Group XXX] A portable rotatable carrier 1 supports a plurality of tiltable buckets 13 and is rotated to position the buckets before dumps of the respective ingredients, e.g. cement, sand and stone, with which the buckets are loaded to the required volume or weight, the carrier being then rotated to bring each loaded bucket in succession to the loading skip 14 or feed shoot of the mixing &c. machine into which the contents are discharged. The carrier rotates on a vertical post 4 fixed to a base 5 with screw jacks 6 for levelling and wheels 10. Each bucket 13 is suspended by trunnions 44 from a straight link 42 on one side and a bell-crank link 43 on the other, the links being carried by knife edges 41 from a weigh lever 15 pivoted at its outer end on a knife-edge 38 fixed to the frame 1 and connected at its inner end to a spring balance 18 hung from a fixed bar 12. The dial of the spring balance has three fingers adjustably mounted in an arcuate slot and set to the required weights of cement, sand and stone for a batch. When the buckets have been filled with stone and sand, the carrier is rotated to bring the stone bucket over the skip 14 and a hand lever 47 is raised to release its nose 47a from a stop 49 on the bucket which then tips about its trunnions 44. Meanwhile, the correct proportion of cement is being added to the sand in the other bucket, the cement dump being located diametrically opposite the skip 14, whereupon the carrier is rotated through 180 degrees to bring the sand and cement bucket over the skip. The buckets may be fitted with partitions.
