Abstract

568,916. Two-part couplings. JOHNSON & PHILLIPS, Ltd., and STEVENS, C. J. H. March 30, 1943, No. 5101. [Class 38 (i)] The socket contacts 12 of a heavy current supply for a crane &c. are mounted individually on blocks 16 of insulation and are assembled as a unit in a casing 19 open at the front and removably fitted into an opening in the wall of the fixed box 11. The flange 21 of the casing 19 is screwed to the face of the box 11 and carries guide pins 26 and rotatable catches 25 to locate and secure the plug member 4 attached to the cable leading to the crane &c. As the plug member is required to be plugged into supply fixtures in various locations, it is fitted with fuses 1 suited to the apparatus to be supplied. The fuses 1 are bolted to cable sockets 3 and to supports 7 in the casing 4 and serve to support the contacts 2 that pass through an insulating plate 9. Access to the fuses is obtained by removing a cover-plate 10. The socket contacts 12 are mounted on blocks 14 which are rounded to allow self-adjustment on their supports 16. The box 11 may contain switch mechanism.
