Abstract

568,710. Closures for tumblers &c. WHITE, W. P. June 24, 1943, No. 10201. [Class 125 (iii)] A closure for sealing by atmospheric pressure frangible receptacles such as thin glass tumblers or jars used, e.g. for packaging foodstuffs, and having circumferential beads 12 at the mouth, comprises a shell 11 having a ring gasket 18 of cured rubber or other substance plastic at ordinary temperature and tacky at higher temperatures, the flange of the shell consisting of a bead 16 and skirt 17 positioned eccentrically on the container so as to leave a sufficient distance at the point from the mouth of the receptacle to permit a lever to be inserted to prize off the shell.
