[Class 126] A self-supporting foldable hearth stand for use with an open fire to facilitate cooking operations comprises a pair of parallel upright supports 1, 2, each provided with a vertical slot 3 and a series of notches 4 on one edge. A carrying tray 5 comprising side arms 7, 8 and a grid 9 is provided with a spacing bar 10 having pins at the ends to engage with the slots 3 and retaining nuts 13. Lugs 14 on the tray engage with the notches 4 to retain the tray at the desired height. The supporting base comprises arms 17, 18 connected by bars 19, 20, the bar 20 being provided at the ends with pins engaging with holes in the upright supports and retained by nuts 23. Lugs 24 on the base engage with notches 25 on the supports 1, 2 and a pivoted catch 26 on the base engages with a notch 27 in the support 1. When not in use, the tray may be folded against the supports by rotating it in 'an anti-clockwise direction through 270 degrees and the base may be rotated similarly in a clockwise direction so that they occupy the position shown in Fig. 2. In a modification, the tray and base are mounted exteriorly of the upright supports with the exception of the spacer bars.
