'[Class 28(ii)] In a folding-up plate rack, the pivoted or detachable sections pack up within one another so that the thickness is equal to or does not appreciably exceed the thickness of one section. The rack comprises at least a base B and a sloping grid front C and may also have a back A all pivoted together. The ends of the back and base are rigidly held together by the inclined grid C, also foldable for packing within a carton G as in Fig. 9. Fig. 7 shows the device partially unfolded in which the tie rod rollers E are gripped by one hand after which the parts A, B and C are pivoted to triangular shape in Fig. 4, the stub ends C<SP>3</SP> being located in notches D<SP>2</SP> of the back uprights A<SP>1</SP> and locked in position by a bail D swung up over the notches D<SP>2</SP> and then dropped down over them, the pin D<SP>3</SP> of D sliding down in the slots D<SP>1</SP>. A separate transverse tie bar F is then dropped into the notches B<SP>6</SP> of B and the transverse base strips B<SP>4</SP> are swung around until their end notches B<SP>5</SP> lock over the tie bar F which thereby supports them. The tie bars F and B<SP>3</SP> have freely rotating spacing rollers E of rubber &c. as in Specification 589,902. Hooks may be used in place of the bail D. The back A may also be formed as a grid, and may be folded down on the base B and the front C can then be folded on top, the lower ends of the front being curved to lie substantially flat thereon.
