Abstract
567,417. Cleaning and pickling metals. CURRAN BROS, Ltd., CURRAN, J., and WORTHINGTON, J. T. C. Oct. 23, 1943, No. 17463. [Class 82 (ii)] In apparatus for cleaning or pickling metals, e.g. metal strip, in which the strip 1 is drawn through a chamber 2 and sprayed with acid from perforated tubes 3, streams of air or other suitable gas, e.g. nitrogen, tmder pressure are directed from slots 5a in tubes 5 located near the exit 4 of the chamber. A baffle 6 is located above the upper tube 5 to catch any condensate on the wall of the chamber and lead it into the interior of the latter. A similar set of tubes 5 may be located inside the entry end of the chamber and the slots 5a located so that the air &c. is directed into the chamber 1.
