Abstract

565,798. Pen nibs. SHEA, J. A. March 16, 1943, No. 18036/44. Divided out of 565,188, [Group XXII]. [Class 146 (iii)] [Also in Group II] A nib, particularly for fountain pens, made of hard and brittle 4 per cent molybdenum stainless steel, has a writing tip of wings 16, 17 extending substantially at right angles from the longitudinal axis of the nib in parallelism from the face. The tip is rounded at the back of the nib, the contours of the free ends of the wings being in contact and smooth and round, both of the wings forming a body symmetrically oval in shape transversely and longitudinally with the blunter curvature of the oval at the longitudinal free end of the nib and with masses of consolidated metal, transversely at the free ends of the wings and at the rounded back, having the hardness of cold forged steel. In a modified form the nib is slit between the wings.
