Abstract
565,576. Compound glass sheets. TILLYER, A., and BRITISH INDESTRUCTO GLASS, Ltd. Jan. 8, 1943, No. 426. [Class 140] In compound glass sheets, the plastic interlayer (e.g. of cellulose ester) extends well beyond the edge of the glass round the whole or a substantial part or parts of the periphery and the projecting parts thereof are cemented to edging material perforable by single perforating tools, such as leather-perforating pliers, and comprising real or artificial leather, fabrics, linoleum, or tough non-brittle plastic. The edging material may be flush with the glass, or may be covered with plates of metal, veneer, horn or ivory flush with the glass. The compound glass may have three or more layers of glass and edging material incorporated also between the interlayers. As shown, the material comprises glass sheets 13 united by an interlayer 12 having an extension 14 coated with edging material 15 to which is screwed metal strips 16. The glass may be flat or curved and may be used for windows. Specification 556,035, [Group X], is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 379,006.
